Ipswich Town will this weekend welcome Canadian international teenager Jaime Peters into the fold, having beaten off competition from Premiership giants Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Championship rivals Derby and Millwall, for his signature.

The 17-year-old winger is expected to sign a contract committing him to join Town officially in May, once he has reached his 18th birthday.

The EADT first revealed Town's interest in the youngster, who had been playing in Germany with Kaiserslautern, back in November last year.

Our story sparked such an interest in him that an online supporters' petition attracted over 1,200 names, urging him to make Ipswich his new base ahead of the big-name clubs.

Peters will train with the Academy for the rest of this season but, as he cannot yet get a work permit, he will not be allowed to play in any competitive matches.
