Manager Paul Hart is desperate to add to his squad after losing key players. However, the ongoing Pompey finance problems threaten to dampen the deal. Hart is said to be offering washed-out Nugent as sustenance for their lack of cash. No deal has currently been agreed.

David Nugent was strongly linked with Ipswich in the 2007-08 season with Blues' boss at the time Jim Magilton making several approaches for the player. Nugent turned down a move claiming he wanted to remain in the Premier League.
