PETERBOROUGH Speedway has this afternoon received notification from their East of England Showground landlords that Friday’s Knockout Cup match against Swindon will have to be postponed.

The message received reads as follows:

SPEEDWAY MEETING FRIDAY 4TH MAY 2012

“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances relating to the extremely wet weather conditions, we have had to make the decision to cancel the above reserved fixture date.

“The two major issues are lack of parking due to waterlogged grounds and health and safety.

“Truckfest are building up for their show at the weekend, and due to the ground conditions we are having to ask all of their exhibitors, including their fairground, to park on the hard standing in the south car park rather than go direct to their pitches, from the south car park each exhibitor will be taken by tractor to their pitch, creating an unexpected delay in the build up to the event.

“There will be heavy traffic in the car park and on our perimeter roads on Friday evening and we cannot risk having your visitors park in the same car park and due to the ground conditions there are no alternative areas for them to park.

“Please accept our sincere apologies for having to cancel another date, but on this occasion have no alternative.”
