IPSWICH Town will take on Burton Albion tonight in the first public outing of the pre-season without Francis Jeffers but with unsettled midfielder Owen Garvan in the side.

Nor will Town be fielding a new keeper despite showing an interest in former Scotland international Neil Alexander.

Alexander is a free agent, having turned down a new offer to stay at Cardiff.

Magilton said: “We are aware of Neil's situation but it is no more than that at this stage.”

Lewis Price and Shane Supple are expected to share the goalkeeping duties at the Pirelli Stadium tonight as Magilton plans to make wholesale changes through the game, using up to 22 players.

Only Sylvain Legwinski and Richard Naylor are unlikely to play, although both have taken part in training at Loughbrough University this week.

Town have already played Woodbridge Town and Leiston behind closed doors.

The Brewers warned up for this match with a 3-2 win at Arnold Town on Saturday, with manager Nigel Clough playing most of the game at full-back.

Jake Edwards played a part in all three goals and won a penalty, which was missed.

Rushden & Diamonds have taken Kieron Leabon, released by Ipswich Town at the end of last season, on trial.
