Essex Eagles return to NatWest T20 Blast action tomorrow night welcoming Somerset to The Cloudfm County Ground.

Chris Silverwood’s men are still in search of their first win of the campaign after two losses to Surrey and Kent Spitfires respectively.

Somerset also travel to Chelmsford looking for their first win and will be encouraged by the form shown by overseas star Corey Anderson.

Head coach Silverwood has named a 14-man squad for Thursday’s encounter and wants to move past Sunday’s defeat as quickly as possible.

He said: “Sunday definitely wasn’t like us and the standards we have set over the last couple of years.

“The good thing about the new block format is that we have another game on Thursday and a chance to put it right. We have been working hard in training this week and we will be ready for the challenge Somerset throw at us.”

Silverwood was full of praise for Ravi Bopara who has started the tournament in fine fashion with 120 runs in two matches and added: “Rav has been exceptional with the bat so far, scoring consistent runs in both games. We are now looking to improve in all areas of our game and capitalise on winning situations.

“There is a number of games left in the NatWest T20 Blast and I am sure if we continue to work hard and execute our skills we will be absolutely fine.”
