BOXING: Colchester fighter Lee Purdy lost his British welterweight title to slick veteran Colin Lynes at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Wednesday night, live on Sky Sports.
The 24-year-old, who was the first-ever British boxing champion from the Essex town, lost on a majority decision after 12 tough rounds.
Lynes started fast, using movement and slick boxing to build up a significant points advantage at the half-way stage of the battle which the slower but more-powerful Purdy, now 16-3-1, could not overcome in the latter rounds.
