Higham racecourse stage the final meeting of their season on Saturday with the traditional Essex and Suffolk fixture, which normally attracts a bumper attendance.

The number of runners at the West Norfolk Hunt point-to-point in Fakenham exceeded expectations from the original sparse entry, and provided an above average enthusiastic attendance with plenty of action, writes Mike Ashby.

The West Norfolk Hunt point-to-point being held on Sunday at Fakenham Racecourse is the only meeting that takes place in Norfolk during the season.

Rupert Stearn and rival jockey Richard Collinson battled to line in three great tussles and both finished the day with a double at a chilly High Easter.

Point-to-point enthusiasts will head to the delightful High Easter racecourse on Saturday – first race 1pm – with the prospect of seeing seven live races and still not miss any of the action of the Grand National which will be screened live on a large screen, after the last race, writes Mike Ashby.

The glorious weather was welcomed by all the spectators that ventured to Horseheath on Saturday for the Puckeridge Hunt point-to-point.

The Puckeridge Hunt host Saturday’s meeting at Horseheath with 60 entries for the six races. The first is at 1.30pm with three pony races from 12pm prior to the steeplechasing.

Henrietta Cranfield overcame a scary moment at the fourth last fence to register her first ever riding victory, in the Novice Rider’s race at High Easter.

After the excitement of Cheltenham, there’s an opportunity to go racing locally, at High Easter racecourse, near Chelmsford, on Sunday.

Point-to-point action returns to Higham on Sunday for the Waveney Harriers fixture with a six-race card – and the entry includes five of the six winners from the previous meeting, at the end of January.
