Old friends will be rivals tonight when Steve Buckle's Ipswich Wanderers side face Ian Brown's Whitton United in the Ridgeons League First Division One Knock-out Cup.
Brown left his post as Wanderers' No. 2 at the end of last season to become Whitton manager. Several of last season's Wanderers first-team players also moved across to Whitton, including goalkeeper Jack Foster, defenders Darcy De'ath and Danny Hyam, as well as winger Camillo Douglas. Speaking about the ex-Wanderers players returning to Humber Doucy Lane, Brown said: “It will be a hostile atmosphere, and a few of them will get some stick from the Kesgrave End!
“Steve is a lovely guy and I have got a lot of respect for him. I really enjoyed working with Steve last season and the only reason I left was to be given the opportunity to work with Whitton United. If that hadn't of come then I'd still be with Steve at Wanderers.”
