MORTEN Risager returns to the ‘Sackers’ Witches team tonight, in a good frame of mind.

Ipswich’s young Dane crashed out of the opening meeting of the season – ironically against tonight’s opponents Rye House – and broke his back.

But his recovery has been far quicker than he first imagined and it has put him in good heart.

“I thought I would be out of the team for the season when I first got told the news,” he said.

“A broken back sounds so bad, but it never felt that bad and certainly didn’t feel as bad as it sounds.

“A few weeks ago I was feeling so good but I kept it to myself. I didn’t want to just come back for the sake of it.

“So now I feel great and am really looking forward to riding again.”

Risager lost part of a finger in a crash last season and admits his return to the side last year was not comfortable.

“I felt a bit scared coming back last season, having lost part of a finger. That was part of my body I’d lost. And it affected my confidence.”

Risager comes into the team at No.4, with Rohan Tungate moving to No.2 after a successful start to his 2012 season, which has seen him move out of the reserve positions. Mat Tresarrieu now moves into reserve and could be a trump card for Pete Simmons’ side. The Rockets have ridden well at Foxhall in recent meetings and on their last visit managed to fight back from a 14-point deficit to take a League Cup point back to Hoddesdon.
