BLACKBURN Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is ready to make his second raid on Marseille - and snap up Argentine defender Renato Civelli.

Allardyce spotted him playing for the French title-chasers and plans to team him up again with Gael Givet. Marseille loan star Givet is signing permanently after adapting to the Premier League and Civelli is a similar hardy type.

The latter is a strapping 6ft 4in centre-half who is also capable of playing at right-back. He is out of contract soon and is seen as an ideal replacement for Andre Ooijer, who has just left Blackburn to join PSV Eindhoven.

Civelli's younger brother Luciano is already in England, having signed for Ipswich in January.

Allardyce is having to sign players in bargain deals while trimming his squad and wage bill. Zurab Khizanishvili is having talks with Galatasaray.
