SUFFOLK'S Mark Royal recorded the biggest total against an opponent who failed to score a single shot as he swept into the last 16 of the World Indoor Bowls Championship at Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton, Norfolk.

SUFFOLK'S Mark Royal recorded the biggest total against an opponent who failed to score a single shot as he swept into the last 16 of the World Indoor Bowls Championship at Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton, Norfolk.

The 32-year-old from Stowmarket beat South African Robin Ashby 16-0, 10-0.

Ceriann Davies, a 29-year-old psychology graduate from Australia, became the first woman to reach the last 16 when she beat Jamie Hill, the 16th seed from New Zealand - only 48 hours after becoming the first woman to win a world championship match. She won 4-10 11-1 2-0.
