AFC Sudbury were on the wrong-end of a 6-0 scoreline on Saturday.

It was a long day for Jamie Godbold’s men, who endured a miserable 300-mile round-trip to Havant & Waterlooville.

The result saw Sudbury stay in the relegation zone, while Havant ended the day as the Ryman Premier League leaders.

Sudbury were missing injured captain Sam Clarke for this game, as well as Rob Eagle, while first-choice centre-half Ryan Henshaw was only fit enough for a place on the bench.

AFC were only a goal down at the interval, but the Hampshire side turned the screw in the second period. The defeat equals AFC’s worse ever league defeat, that was a 6-0 reverse away at Grays Athletic in January 2013.

Elsewhere, Lowestoft Town made it four Ryman Premier Division wins in a row after defeating Kingstonian 1-0 at Crown Meadow.

Jake Reed was the match-winner for The Trawlerboys, with the striker netting as early as the 10th minute.

Nico Cotton also went close for the hosts, who created the better of the chances against established opposition.

After drawing 0-0 with Hendon, and beating Leatherhead (1-0), Enfield Town (2-1), and Burgess Hill Town (3-1), Lowestoft sit in 11th position in the league, nine points short of the play-offs, with eight games to go.

The Trawlerboys are next in action on Tuesday night when they face Newmarket Town in a Suffolk Premier Cup semi-final, at Needham Market. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Elsewhere, in the Ryman North Division, Bury Town scored a late winner to beat Tilbury 2-1.

Ryan Jolland was the Bury hero, in the 94th minute, steering home inside the far post after some great work by the byline from Josh Mayhew.

Bury took the lead in this game after 12 minutes, through Noel Aitkens. Aitkens headed home from a Darcy Death trademark long throw which was flicked on by Ollie Fenn.

Ollie Hughes had an effort cleared off the line for Bury, before mid-table Tilbury equalised when Kurt Smith reacted quickest to smash the ball past Neil O’Sullivan from a long throw. Jolland had the last laugh though.
