Mildenhall Fen Tigers boss Kevin Jolly has issued an early season statement of intent giving local 15-year-old Sam Bebee the call up for this weekend’s KO Cup ties against the Eastbourne Eagles.

After hearing that Adam Sheppard, who rode for the Fen Tigers on Sunday against the Isle of Wight, had suffered ligament damage plus significant bike damage in a fall during Monday evening’s amateur meeting at Kent Jolly resisted the temptation to bring in an old hand, choosing instead to give the opportunity to one of his promising Fen Tiger Cubs.

Bebee, who is from Feltwell, is one of five youngsters on the Fen Tigers Cub roster taking part in this year’s British Youth Championship. He has only been riding speedway for 11 months but has already made a good impression with his skill, willingness to learn and determination.

Jolly said: “I was initially in two minds whether to promote one of our exciting youngsters, but after seeing some of them after Sundays meeting, I had no hesitation in offering Sam his debut.

“I hope this sends a message about what this clubs ethos is and also acts as further encouragement and proof to our Fen Tiger Cubs.”
