SUFFOLK’S Goldie Sayers has crashed out of the javelin final at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu today.
The javelin thrower, from Newmarket, failed to qualify for the final three throws in the final after a sub-par showing which saw her record a best of just 58.18m.
“I’m devastated,” Sayers said. “I got anxious and tried to force it and you can’t afford to do that in the javelin. I need to be able to stay more relaxed in the early rounds.”
It’s a major disappointment for Sayers, who finished fourth in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
