EX-IPSWICH TOWN star James Scowcroft has agreed on a new deal with Bury Town FC for the upcoming season, following a meeting with director Phil Smailes during the week.

The striker, a former pupil at Thurston Upper School near Bury St Edmunds, signed for the Blues at the start of last season and was a key figure in a promotion chase after his move from Leyton Orient.

A spokesman for the club said he will also prove to be invaluable off the pitch as he has agreed to assist the management team with their coaching, working particularly closely with players during the 2011-12 season.

The spokesman added: “As the season draws closer, this is another massive boost to the squad at Ram Meadow as the club look to go one better than their inaugural season in the Ryman Premier Division.”
