Felixstowe & Walton face a difficult trip to Godmanchester Rovers’ Bearscroft Farm ground this weekend, as they look to maintain or extend their lead at the top of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

And while they are guaranteed to still be heading the table whatever happens, they could find their lead cut to 14 points, should they falter.

Second placed Coggeshall, already four games behind the leaders find themselves without a game, and could drop to fourth should the two sides immediately below them, but on the same points, collect wins, although they both have tricky tests themselves.

The Seasiders were left to concentrate on the league after crashing out of the Vase last week at the home of former Thurlow Nunn side Wisbech Town.

Joint boss Kevin O’Donnell said: “We have big month coming up when we will hit the half way point of the season, and there are some tough games on the horizon.

“It will be vital for us to keep picking up points to maintain our great league performance to date.”

The other half of the Seasiders’ management team, Ian Watson, added: “Although we were disappointed with our performance last week, our focus has always been the league.

“The challenge for the squad now is to continue being consistent in the title race - there is a long way to go yet!”

The Seasiders’ hosts may have slipped up in their last two league games, but will be full of confidence after their excellent Vase success last week at Stoke on Trent-based Hanley Town.

They have started to climb the table after a rocky start to the season when they picked up just four points from their opening six games.

One of those early defeats was at the Goldstar Ground in August when Felixstowe won 2-1. But now they start the day in ninth place and could climb into the top six with a win this weekend.

This will be the Seasiders fourth straight away trip, with close to 800 miles covered in 15 days, so they will be wanting to make sure it’s a fruitful Saturday.
