Sevenoaks 3 Chelmsford 1

CHELMSFORD Men's first team failed to protect another lead after another promising performance.

The opening half saw both teams facilitate opportunities but despite efforts the first half's conclusion was goalless. Excellent goal keeping and defending from Chelmsford's Dean Armstrong and defenders David Hunter and Ian Belchamber proved invaluable through sustained periods of pressure and after the break Chelmsford broke the dead lock and went in front via Josh Mepham's one touch finish at the near post on the end of a through ball from his brother Luke.

However the celebrations were short lived. Sevenoaks responded well and two short corner conversions later, Chelmsford found themselves behind. Consequently frustrations flared resulting in a yellow card being shown to Luke Mepham for the second consecutive week. Before the final whistle Sevenoaks scored a third leaving Chelmsford no time to respond.

The man of the match award, presented by Sevenoaks HC went to Chelmsford's Elliott Seleska. But no consolation was found in individual performances and again Chelmsford find themselves looking to next week's home game against Ipswich who sit two places above them in the table but a win for Chelmsford would see them rise above them into eighth and clear of relegation.
