In this week’s nostalgia, we take a look at when Ipswich last played at Bramall Lane, which ended with Town taking all three points after Tamas Priskin and Gareth McAuley scored in a 2-1 win on November 6 2010.
First-half strikes from Tamas Priskin and Gareth McAuley helped Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town to a 2-1 Championship win over Sheffield United the last time the clubs met at Bramall Lane on Saturday November 6, 2010.
Ipswich took a sixth-minute lead when the United defence failed to clear their lines following Carlos Edwards’ long throw and an unmarked JakeLivermore headed the ball into the path of Priskin, who turned and shot past Sheffield United keeper Steve Simonsen from close range.
Stephen Quinn grabbed United a equaliser midway through the first-half when Mark Yeates’ cross was cleared into his path and he made no mistake in drilling the ball home from 12 yards.
But Ipswich took the lead for good five minutes before the interval when Grant Leadbitter’s right-wing cross fell to McAuley, who was in acres of space in the area, and the defender made no mistake by blasting past Simonsen.
