FOOTBALL: Westerfield United have appointed Rob Pease and Jamie Sandilands as joint managers of their Kingsley Healthcare SIL Senior Division side.

This follows the resignation of last season’s managers Richard Page and Scott Peat.

Club chairman Chris Cushnahan said: “We welcome both new managers to the club and wish them well.

“We would also like to pass on our thanks to Richard and Scott for all their hard work and wish them both every success for the future.”

Pre-season training commences on Thursday July 1 with sessions planned for Tuesday and Thursday evenings commencing at 7pm.

Following a successful five-a-side tournament held at Rushmere Sports club last summer, this year’s tournament is being held on Saturday July 10.

Tournament director Danny Banthorpe is seeking 32 teams and to base the competition on the World Cup format.

Apart from the usual trophies, there will be a chance to win a life size replica of the FIFA World Cup.

Other activities will include a crossbar challenge and a penalty competition. A BBQ and other refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The cost per each team is 25 and there are still a few vacancies.

Further details can be obtained by e-mailing dannybanthorpe@gmail.com.

“We are looking for two sponsors to cover the cost of officials and trophies and 150 per sponsor would cover these costs,” said Cushnahan.

“We anticipate a crowd of over 400 so there will be good exposure.”
