Southwold lift MSC Suffolk Alliance Plate for first time
SOUTHWOLD are the new MSC Suffolk Alliance Plate winners.
Sam Booker turned in a man-of-the-match performance as Southwold defeated Needham Market by three wickets in Sunday’s final at Easton Cricket Club to win the Plate for the first time.
Stuart Ward scored an undefeated 58 as Needham Market, batting first, scored 148 for six, Craig Gorst-Allman returning figures of 8-1-24-3.
Booker, who had earlier delivered eight overs for 25, then top-scored with 61 as Southwold reached their target for the loss of seven wickets with an over to spare. Ryan Moore made 25 and Craig Gorst-Allman 21 while Robbie Hill bagged 4-2-8-3 including the wicket of Booker.
In Section B of the MSC Suffolk Alliance, Caribbeans beat Stradbroke by seven wickets, Paul Denness taking 10-2-28-4 and J Whyte following up his figures of 6.5-2-16-4 with 57 not out. Bob Goodall also made an undefeated 56.

Freston top the table in Section D by the narrowest of margins after beating DBSL by six wickets but only picking up 16 points in the process, while Kesgrave received the maximum 20 points for their victory over Ipswich & East Suffolk.
Adam Stevens top-scored with 44 for DBSL in their total of 137 for six, but Graham Stiff replied with 47 not out for the visitors.

John Ling led the way with 94 not out and received good support from Richard Jennings, who made 83, as Kesgrave rattled up 263 for three at home to IES, who succumbed for 132 in a 130-run reverse, Andy Thompson taking 9.1-0-30-4.
Worlingworth won the battle of the bottom two, beating Felixstowe & Corinthian Youth B by 29 runs to keep them rooted to the foot of the table.
Thurston thrashed Hartest & Coldham by 86 runs in Division Three of the Hunts County Bats League. James Murray made 65 in Thurston’s 242 for five and then took two cheap wickets as the home team were dismissed for 156.
Ben Watkinson (86) and Ian Wilkes (56) set up a comfortable nine-wicket win for Tendring Park at Sudbury in Division Four, and James Sturgeon struck a century as Bury St Edmunds beat Battisford by 69 runs.
