Speedway pioneer Thurley dies, aged 62

JOE Thurley, who with John Berry was responsible for bringing speedway back to Ipswich in 1969, died on Saturday.
JOE Thurley, who with John Berry was responsible for bringing speedway back to Ipswich in 1969, died on Saturday.
He was 62 and leaves a wife, a daughter and a son.
In 1970 Thurley moved to Doncaster and then opened Birmingham in 1971 with Berry and Colin Barber.
