STANWAY boss Steve Downey unveiled his first managerial appointments since taking over as first team manager of Stanway Rovers.

Downey said: “I am absolutely delighted to advise that Nigel Walker has agreed to take over the manager's role of the reserves squad, and that Rovers legend Andy Holman has agreed to be his Assistant.”

Downey added: “The Reserve management team is absolutely key to the ongoing development of the young players here at Stanway.

“I am really looking forward to be working closely with Nigel again, and I have known Andy for many years - both are local men, and that's an important factor in what we are trying to achieve at the Club.

“We have lots of young home grown talent coming through at this Club and I know that in Nigel and Andy their development as players is in safe hands.”

Rovers Chairman Roy Brett said: “With the appointment of people of the calibre of Nigel and Andy to the Reserves set up, and announcements set to follow relating to the Under 18s Management structure, the future of player development at Stanway Rovers is looking assured.”
