Rick Andrews says his Stowmarket Town side must not repeat previous errors when they host Norwich United this afternoon (3pm), writes Alex Moss.

The Old Gold and Blacks saw their 100 per cent record in this season’s Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division come to an end on Tuesday night, after losing 3-2 at home to local rivals Walsham-le-Willows at Greens Meadow.

While Andrews was quick to credit Walsham’s desire and work rate in their performance, the Stow boss could not hide away from the errors made by his players in the lead up to the three goals they conceded.

“Take nothing away from Walsham, for their work rate and desire alone you wouldn’t begrudge them the win,” he said

“They’ve capitalised on our errors and in this league that’s what teams do. We need to look at that and address it and knock out the errors.

“We gave the ball away cheaply at times, but if we can pick up three points on Saturday that’ll be 12 points out of 15, which won’t be a bad return.

“There’s no panic at all here. We’ve picked up nine points out of 12 so we’ve already had a much better start than last year.”

In recent seasons, Stow have shown impressive levels of bounce-back-ability, responding to a defeat with a win, most recently beating FC Clacton 3-0 after losing 2-0 to Basildon United in the Emirates FA Cup the previous weekend.

“We had the disappointment of the FA Cup, but the boys bounced back,” Andrews said.

“Now we’ve had our first disappointment in the league and hopefully we can bounce back.

“We know it will be another tough game, Norwich United have come down and I think they’re still finding their feet, but we’ll give respect to any team that has come down from a higher division.

A crowd of 348 watched Stow’s defeat at Greens Meadow on Tuesday, the highest attendance so far in this season’s Thurlow Nunn League.

“There is a real buzz around the ground and it’s just getting better and better,” Andrews said. Hopefully we can put it right on Saturday.”
