East Women’s League

Division 1N

WITH a few changes to the Sudbury team, Sudbury was eager to go out and gain three points from Norwich city. Sudbury dominated the first 15 minutes with superior play down the left hand side, from Tracy Caddock, Chloe Mills and Jess Shepherdson but unfortunately unable to convert. Unfortunately with some breaks from Norwich City meant that Sudbury’s defence of Mandy Coleman, Ruth Warnes, Katie Clark and Tracy Caddock were under pressure, however they did not back down and cleared the ’D’ of any danger. A few injuries in the first half, meant that Sudbury were able to regroup and create continuous attacks down both wings with excellent support from both Kirsty Sloan and Gemma Jones.

Sudbury pushed back the second half, after having a good team talk in the break, knowing that they could gain three points from this game. With some good linking play, Sudbury won numerous opportunities but was still unable to convert. With both sides looking pretty equal both Sandra Mackay (Goal keeper) and the opposition’s goalie making some excellent saves. Sudbury remained fighting strong throughout the second half, with Lucy Hunnable and Helen Chambers making some great attacks towards goal but due to good defensive work from the Norwich defence were broken down. Sudbury Fought well throughout the game, coming away with a 0-0 draw and one point.

Well done to Katie Clark for getting player of the match, with her excellent defensive work and interceptions. This week Sudbury face Lincoln 1st X1 away.
