SUFFOLK and Essex went into last night's East Anglian Women's Championship match at Bury having both won their opening matches against Hertfordshire but it was Suffolk who emerged 2-0 winners.
Suffolk went ahead after 20 minutes when Kristy Turner (Ipswich Town) fired in a splendid goal from long range.
The lead was increased after 49 minutes when a cross shot from Kat Parnell (Colchester United) was turned into the net by an Essex defender in an attempt to clear.
At the other end Faye Lunn (Ipswich Town) made a smart save from Zoe Rushen (Braintree) on the hour mark but apart from that Essex never threatened as Suffolk maintained their two-goal advantage.
