Hopefully this was a taste of the weather to come for the County matches this summer.

The SCWBA President, Mrs Rosemary Gyford from Fressingfield Bowls Club, congratulated ladies for being selected to represent Suffolk in this season’s Donald Steward and Jubilee Vase Competitions.

She was very pleased to see several new faces in the teams including Shirley Lilley from Leiston Town Bowls Club, Sadie Church from Halesworth Bowls Club and an up and coming young bowler, Chloe Coleman, from Waldringfield Bowls Club.

She wished the teams success and hoped that they would reach the National Finals at Skegness in August.

As in recent years, the Captain of Donald Steward team is Mrs Josie Whatling from Thorndon Bowls Club. The Jubilee Vase team is now captained by Mrs Margaret Thorpe, a former County and National President, who has played more than 100 games for the County. The Selectors are Mrs June Laws, Mrs Vivien Nunn and Mrs Mary Davis who also carries out the role of Match Secretary.
