SUFFOLK’S opening Minor Counties Trophy match of the season was abandoned today without a ball being bowled.
The match against Lincolnshire at Copdock was called off at 2pm.
Heavy overnight rain meant the started was delayed, and further rain in the morning put paid to any chance of the first full county fixture to be staged at the ground for six years getting under way.
Both sides picked up a point apiece.
Suffolk’s next match is away to Norfolk at Manor Park, Horsford next Sunday.
