MANAGER Andy Gould could not hide his disappointment after Suffolk bowed out of this year's FA County Youth Cup at the quarter-final stage.
Suffolk lost 1-0 to Lancashire at The County Ground, Leyland on Saturday, and so missed out on a semi-final meeting with Sheffield and Hallamshire at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough ground this coming Saturday.
Gould said: “It was a massive opportunity missed as we had beaten better sides to get this far. We didn't really get going, although Joe Clarke hit the post and the ball rolled along the line when it was still goalless.”
The only goal of the game came from a 20-yard free kick two minutes before half time.
“Defensively we were very good, but we missed four one-on-one chances and didn't show enough quality in the final third of the pitch on the day,” said Gould.
“Ten members of this year's squad are first years which should stand us in good stead again for next season,” he added.
