Suffolk’s Zoe Newson has become a two-time Paralympic medallist after she claimed a bronze in Rio this afternoon.

Newson, 24, who was born in Ipswich and went to East Bergholt High School, finished third in the women’s 45kg and under powerlifting.

She adds that bronze to another which she won at London 2012.

The Suffolk Spartans member finished with a best of 102kgs, narrowly failing at 105kgs and then missing a world record attempt at 107kgs after the medals had been decided.
