A QUARTET of Suffolk Thai boxers enjoyed impressive outings at a major regional fight event this weekend.

Deborah Heatrick, Trevor Walker, James Wall and Adam Prescott, who all fight out of the Bury Thai Boxing Camp, travelled to Sunday’s Pure Force 5 show in Luton from their new team base at the Unit One Combat Sports & Fitness Gym in Kempson Way, Bury St Edmunds.

And Heatrick claimed victory over Ruth Mead from the Hanuman Gym in Luton, despite having a point deducted in the final round for landing an illegal spinning back-fist which nearly separated Mead from her senses.

Wall also emerged victorious, beating the awkward John Catten from the Ultimate Strike Gym in Folkestone in a difficult bout which saw the Bury fighter’s clean attacking combinations clinch the win.

Meanwhile, novice Adam Prescott put on a fight of the night performance in losing a decision to the experienced Patrick Jakhoo from London Muay Thai Academy.

Undeterred despite conceding a huge 6kg to his opponent, the David versus Goliath battle saw Prescott come close to knocking Jakhoo out in the second round.

Finally, Trevor Walker dropped a close decision against James Purdue from the East West Dragons Gym in Luton. Purdue did enough to win but failed to hurt Walker, whose knee strikes inflicted heavy damage on his foe.
