THE 2010 Redrow Homes Suffolk Youth Games will take place on Sunday, July 11 at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre and King Edward VI School, Bury St Edmunds.

With the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London just around the corner, the Suffolk Youth Games offers young people a small taste of what it is like to take part in a large-scale, multi-sport event. In their own way, whether on the world stage or across Suffolk, both events have the power to inspire young people to grow as individuals and achieve their potential through sporting endeavour.

The Suffolk event, now in its eleventh year, is organised by Suffolk Sport, in association with local authorities, sports clubs, schools and other sports partners across Suffolk.

The Games represent the largest multi-sport festival for young people in Suffolk. This year there will be nine competitive Sports: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Hockey, Skate-boarding, Squash, Table Tennis, Tag Rugby and Tennis, as well as two independent competitions in Judo and Boccia taking place. Around 1,000 young people will be taking part in the Youth Games but many more will have been involved in pre-Games community coaching programmes organised by the local authority sports development teams and local partners.

Redrow Homes has once again agreed to be the main sponsor of the event for the seventh successive year.
