SUNDERLAND boss Steve Bruce is hoping to sign Ghana international John Mensah on a season long loan deal.
Mensah is currently playing for French Ligue1 side Lyon. He signed an initial 5 year contract and is highly rated, ranked as the number one Ligue1 player in November 2005.
Bruce, who has been looking to strengthen his defense, has said: “The John Mensah thing is getting close. We are edging towards that one. It looks as if we might be able to have that one in the bag."
