Pundit Chris Sutton has been up to his old tricks again, once again warning Ipswich Town fans to ‘be careful what you wish for’ in a radio row with a Blues supporter.

Ex-Canary Sutton, who was outspoken about Mick McCarthy’s departure last season, had an exchange of opinions with Town fan Tom on BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 show over the weekend.

With Tom saying the football and entertainment has improved under Paul Hurst, despite the club sitting bottom of the Championship table, an incredulous Sutton once again leapt to McCarthy’s defence, saying what he had done at Portman Road was a ‘big achievement’.

He added: “I said at the end of last season, Ipswich fans need to be careful what they wish for, in terms of resouces.

“I’m a big fan of Paul Hurst, but he’s inherited a side at a club which don’t want to spend money.

“Exeter beat them! How bad? It must be brilliant now you’ve scored four goals in five games. Wow, the entertainment!”
