RANSOMES Sports manager Peter Gorham says that he saw enough in Tuesday's Suffolk Senior Cup final to know how to upset Crane Sports in tomorrow's Metaltec SIL Omnico Cup semi-final at Bourne Vale (kick-off 2pm).

“I think I saw enough to enable us to beat them,” said Gorham, “I am confident we will get our tactics right.”

Crane lost to Beccles Town 1-0 at Portman Road, and Robbie Beecroft's side will be out to make up for that disappointment tomorrow.

But Gorham has promised them a tough game, adding: “We lost 1-0 to them in the league early doors and then drew with them recently.

“We could easily have taken more from both games, and intend to tomorrow.

“But win, lose or draw we intend to enjoy ourselves; with the club buzzing these days after gaining our FA Charter Mark status.”

Ransomes will be without Ben Deacon - six goals in five games - and Danny George because they had not played 10 games for them before the March 31 cut-off.

And they have former Crane player Paul Dodsworth struggling along with 39-year-old evergreen striker Brian Clarke (calf).

With regular keeper Guy Clubb on holiday in Hong Kong, Tony Warner will make his debut in goal, having been plucked out of Sunday football with Man on the Moon.

“We will be okay,” said Gorham. “We will have enough. And on the plus side Russell White is back from a skiing trip.”

Gorham cannot understand why the game has been allocated to Bourne Vale, saying: “I don't like playing on that slope, and with Ipswich Athletic not having a game I would expect them to be there and giving us stick.”

The other semi-final is between holders Grundisburgh and Felixstowe United at Melton St Audry's.

In the SIL Senior Division, in-form Capel Plough can make up ground on leaders Grundisburgh with three points against Stowupland Falcons.

Plough player-manager Pat Tynan will be looking to Jamie Sandilands to play a big part revealing: “Of the 20 players I have brought new into the club in the last three years, Jamie is the only one who has stayed.

“He is good player and a good lad.”

At the other end of the table bottom-placed Stonham Aspal are now desperate for points and need a win over Woodbridge Athletic, while Westerfield versus Coplestonians is a virtual six-pointer and East Bergholt are also still in need of points.
