Three Suffolk water polo players have been selected to participate Great Britain traiining camps, ahead of the forthcoming European Championships.

Team Ipswich trio Bradley Watts (Under-15s), Dawn Poole (Under-15s) and Poppy Mayall (Under-14s) were picked following the recent second and final GB selection weekend in Cardiff.

All three will be part of an elite group of athletes who will be attending Cardiff’s International Swimming Pool on a monthly basis as well as international training camps and fixtures in Hungary and Spain. After the European Championships they will be targeting the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Team Ipswich Water Polo Club Captain Phil Trett said: “This is a very proud moment for our club. After starting our U14 junior section just over two years ago it is testament to the commitment of our players, parents and coaching staff to have achieved such outstanding success.”

Last season the team’s Under-16’s came runners-up in their Eastern Region league last season, with the U14’s and U18’s teams being crowned as league champions.

The club are always on the look out for keen swimmers who would like to learn this Olympic sport. For further info see www.ipswichwaterpolo.org
