COLCHESTER United hot-shot Jamie Cureton faces a crucial morning of training today, in preparation for Saturday's big East Anglian derby at Ipswich Town.

Cureton tweaked his hamstring during the second-half of last weekend's 1-1 draw against visiting Leicester City. The 31-year-old was replaced by West Ham loanee Hogan Ephraim just after the hour mark.

“Jamie's hamstring felt tight, so he came off as a precaution,” confirmed U's manager Geraint Williams last night.

“He hasn't trained yet this week, but he will have a run-out tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be no reaction, because he is a key player for us.”

Cureton is the U's joint top scorer with 14 goals this season, level with strike-force partner Chris Iweloumo. The duo have bagged 28 goals in 30 league and cup matches, a marvellous record.

Cureton will be eager to feature against Ipswich, not least because he began his career as a trainee at rivals Norwich City.
