Club coach Kevin “Stan” Stannard from Thorpeness RFC was named Suffolk RFU’s Volunteer of the Month for September and was presented with the award before the club’s Suffolk Merit 1 game with Ipswich Magpies on Saturday.
Chairman Dale Hoffman said: “I nominated Kevin as he travels from the Norwich area each Saturday, home or away to take charge of the team, he comes from his place of work every Wednesday to run through training and most of all, for me, he always has time and respect for all the club’s volunteers.
“Thorpeness rugby club is extremely lucky to have “Stan” as a volunteer and member of the club, we also really appreciate the help of his family as he gives up a lot of time to help at the club.
“Volunteers are a very important part of any community club and Thorpeness Rugby Club wishes to thank all those that help.
“It is difficult to always show how grateful we are, but thanks to Suffolk RFU and President Ray Collins we have had the opportunity to reward Kevin.”
