Melford took the lead on 41 minutes when Scott Sloots played the ball towards the Swaffham far post and Hassan Ally was on the spot to dive in and head the ball home.

Nick Castellan almost levelled for the visitors just before the break, but Melford keeper Darren Moyes dived full length to push the ball round the post.

The second half belonged to Melford, who were playing at an increased tempo, and they looked likely to increase their lead.

Melford duo Steve Adams and Will Wingfield hit the bar and post respectively, before Ashley Skeggs eventually doubled the hosts’ lead from eight yards, on 66 minutes.
