It promises to be an exciting climax in Division One with three teams vying for two promotion places.

Leaders Bramford United, who are at home to Sporting 87 tomorrow, look in pole-position to clinch the title but are being chased all the way by their final-day opponents, Henley Athletic, who are four points behind.

Both teams have five games remaining but Claydon, who travel to Henley next week, have a game in hand on the top two and can’t be ruled out, especially from nicking the runners-up spot.

Henley, who started the season like a train, winning 17 of their first 18 games, have slipped up in recent weeks and have lost their last three matches.

They host Ipswich Athletic tomorrow and manager Jason Fulcher is not giving up on the title.

“The title is Bramford’s to lose,” he said.

“We want to win the title, of course we do, but our main ambition at the start of the season was to be playing Senior Division football in a year’s time.

“Saturday’s game is vital for us and we must bounce back after our defeat against Ipswich Exiles last week.

“A few decisions that were going for us at the start of the season didn’t go our way there and while we were the better team, that doesn’t always win you games.

“We play Claydon next week and that will be a big game.

“We just want to get out of this league. Ask any manager in the SIL and they will say Division One is toughest to get out of.”

Fulcher is able to welcome back three key players after injury for tomorrow’s game, in Nathan Harper, Darren Hart and goalkeeper Alan Sadler.

While that trio will boost the team’s chances of gaining a positive result, Fulcher was quick to pay tribute to the rest of his squad and said a positive vibe was running all the way through the club.

“My players have been brilliant all season and I won’t have a word said against them,” added Fulcher.

“They have turned up for training right throughout the season when availability can be a problem for some teams in the SIL divisions.

“The reserve team is doing well and we are getting 25-30 lads turning up for training every week.

“There is a good atmosphere before, during and after games, the boys have been fantastic, the committee have been really supportive and the club is in good shape.”
