Tom Adeyemi is set to have an operation on his injured Achilles tendon.

The midfielder has played just five times for the Blues since joining from Cardiff last summer, with the last coming almost exactly a year ago when the Blues were beaten 1-0 at home by Norwich in October 2017.

He has suffered a string of setbacks over the last 12 months, with the latest set to be operated on.

“Tom’s having an operation on his Achilles,” Hurst said.

“He went to see a specialist and after not seeing any real improvement, despite the timeframe, he felt that’s possibly the best course of action.

“I hope it is because having an operation on Achilles tendon is not something you would want to through if you didn’t have to.

“I’m not exactly sure what the timeframe is but I think you are talking a couple of months minimum, so we’re talking after Christmas best case.

“It’s frustrating for everyone because he’s a player who’s been in the squad but hasn’t, really.
