TOMMY Miller made a lot of Blues' fans happy with his equaliser at Preston on Friday night - and netted a few quid for many punters too, writes Derek Davis.

In his pre-match interview with the EADT, Miller revealed how the lack of league goals had weighed him down but was confident, once he got one, he would get a cluster. Miller was also sure that he would score at Preston, as he is a jinx to the Lilywhites. Many EADT readers backed him at 10-1, including his dad Tommy senior, and the former Hartlepool midfielder came up trumps.

He said: “I was sure I was going to score. The keeper blocked the first shot but I was able to get it in with my left foot.

The EADT revealed on Saturday morning that the reason behind Miller's bizarre goal celebration was a tribute to his injured room-mate Shefki Kuqi.

Miller put a hand over his nose and an arm out in recognition of Kuqi's celebratory dive after a goal. Miller added: “Shefki's a top man and we wanted to do something for him. After breaking his nose at Sheffield United, he used to sit in the dressing room with an ice bag on it, so that was what that was about.”

Miller will be looking to bag his ninth goal of the season tomorrow against Watford, who he opened the scoring against in the 4-2 home win in December 2002.
