Colchester United keeper Sam Walker looks certain to be out for the whole season, after suffering what is feared to be a cruciate ligament injury during tonight’s 1-0 defeat to Reading in the Capital One Cup.

“We understand that it’s a cruciate ligament injury,” confirmed manager Tony Humes, following tonight’s game.

“That’s probably the season for Sam.

“We had managed the knee, from the end of last season. Sam was very confident in managing it and getting through it, and he started this game very well.

“He made some great saves, but one little wrong movement and we think the knee has gone,” added Humes.
