Top 10 finish for Decker

HELEN Decker braved the heat and humidity of Delhi to finish in the top 10 in the women’s marathon at the Commonwealth Games this morning.

HELEN Decker braved the heat and humidity of Delhi to finish in the top 10 in the women’s marathon at the Commonwealth Games this morning.

Decker, of Ipswich JAFFA, finished alongside England team-mate Holly Rush for the gruelling 26.2-mile challenge. Both girls finished in 2hrs 49mins 24secs with Decker in eighth and Rush ninth.

It was Decker’s third marathon in six months following her appearances at the London Marathon and the European Championships in Barcelona.

Kenyan Irene Jerotich Kosgei won in 2.34.32, while England’s other team member, Michelle Cope, was an excellent sixth in 2.46.13.
