SOME of the world's finest gymnasts will descend on Pipers Vale in Ipswich today.

Great Britain, Switzerland and the Netherlands will compete as preparations are being put in place for the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastic Championships held in Stuttgart, Germany, at the beginning of next month.

The tournament is a key opportunity for the gymnasts to prime their skills. Only a top 12 finish in Stuttgart will qualify teams for the Olympic Games next year.

Among the GB team are Daniel Keatings and Louis Smith, both from Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club, and both who have secured podium finishes on the world stage this year.

Other GB team members include five times British champion Ross Brewer, Earls Gymnastic Club pair Ryan Bradley and Kristian Thomas, south Essex firefighter Danny Lawrence and Luke Folwell, who makes up the Huntingdon trio.

Doors open at 1pm and the action starts at 2pm. Ticket prices are £8 for adults and £5 for concessions. Tickets are available through the door or online at www.British-gymnastics.org
