IPSWICH hope to sign Ricardo Fuller from Southampton in time to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Jamaican international is due in Ipswich tonight to complete a deal to join the Suffolk club on a one month loan.

Fuller will go straight into Joe Royle's side as Ipswich look to extend their unbeaten league run to nine matches.

Fuller turned down an approach by Ipswich before Christmas to join on a loan move, but after failing to regain his place in the Saints side now managed by former Town boss George Burley he has had a change of heart.

With Alan Lee set to be out for three weeks with a hamstring tear and adding to the list of striker casualties at Portman Road, Fuller is a timely addition as the Blues look to continue their push for a Championship play-off place.

“Ricardo and Alan were the two strikers I have been chasing since the autumn, and with the former not playing first team football since our last enquiry he has changed his mind,” said Royle.

“Our chairman David Sheepshanks has agreed a deal with his opposite number Rupert Lowe, and David has also spoken to the player's agent.

“Ricardo is due in Ipswich tonight when we expect to complete the loan deal. It is works out as well as Alan we will all be well pleased.”
