It’s a triple formula feast of motorsport action at Foxhall Stadium, Ipswich, this Saturday, writes Dean Cox.

Headlining the racing will be the 2018 Saturday Night Thunder event for the Classic Hot Rods as they showcase one of the many golden eras of Hot Rod Racing, the 1970’s and 80’s when Mk1 and Mk2 Ford Escorts and Anglia’s screamed around Foxhall with crossflow engines!

Today’s Classic Hot Rod transports the race fan back in time and another glorious chance to see these amazing – and quite rare – cars in full speed action where their racing is some of the fastest you will ever see at Foxhall where they really get the chance to unleash all their horsepower on the big oval.

Legendary local former star driver in Hot Rods throughout the 1980’s, Nigel Murphy, has recently returned to racing and will revel in throwing his Mk2 Escort around the Foxhall oval once again.

Also on a non-contact theme, we have a visit from the Rookie Rods as they contest their 2018 Long Track Championship.

It was early June when we last saw the Formula at Foxhall whilst they have had a busy 2018 so far this year with some superb grids of cars which made for some highly entertaining and dramatic racing!

As usual, there is a good 30 plus cars booked in for this one which should see the likes of local drivers Noel Whinney and Shaun Parker competing with the likes of leader Joe Smith, Anthony Simpson, and Harry Smith.

To complete the programme, the Bangers are appearing in ‘Unlimited Back to Basics’ specification which should allow for some machinery not always utilised in Banger Racing to be brought out for a moment of glory on track.

Local lad Dom Freeman makes his racing debut and he’ll be joined by local favourite Gareth Parker.

Turnstiles open at 5.30pm with racing commencing at 6:45pm.
