Local interest will focus on Lucy Turmel, a member of the sports club, who is the top seed in the Girls Under 19 event. She recently won the British Under 23 Championship and continues to go from strength to strength.

The England squash-sanctioned event has attracted more than 250 entries.

Alistair Livingstone, director of squash and racketball, and organiser of the event, said: “In order to play for England, a player needs to compete regularly in events such as this, so we’re delighted to be welcoming a huge number of squash stars of the future to Suffolk.

“There will be nearly 500 matches played over the course of two-and-a-half days.”
