Mildenhall have only one place in the side to fill after another busy day saw the addition of Jack Kingston and Brendan Johnson to their ranks.

18 year old Londoner Kingston made his debut last season for the Kent Kings in the National League after only first riding a 500cc in May 2010 and although riding in the difficult Number 2 berth for much of the season put 1.2 on his starting average and became a firm crowd favourite at Central Park for his all action and never say die attitude. Bournemouth based Johnson has plenty of National League experience and was the British Under 18 Champion in 2009. Although he has ridden for Oxford, Weymouth, Isle of Wight, Newport, Dudley and Coventry in the third tier Johnson is only 21 and comes in on an attractive looking 4.84 average.

Club chairman Kevin jolly was pleased with the latest additions -

‘Things are looking very good with the team for 2014. Jack is an exciting prospect who I am sure the supporters will love. His all action style reminds me a little of Josh (Bates) when he started and look how he has progressed! Jack is very keen to learn and progress in his speedway career and we are sure that we can help him achieve his goals, he certainly has the potential, of that I have no doubt.

Brendan’s career has stalled a little over the last two years , but let’s not forget he was U18 champion in 2010 and has represented his country so the ability is there for sure. Speaking to Brendan his enthusiasm shone through, he clearly wants to ride for us, is professional in his approach and has good equipment. With the support we can offer I think he could be a steal on his average’

Johnson was overjoyed to join the Fen Tigers -

‘I am over the moon to be at Mildenhall and I know it will be a great year especially with the team that is already in place, I know we will all help each other and that we can push on and win some silver wear.

Being at Mildenhall will not only benefit me by being a great track to race on but it will be great to have people like Chris, Kevin and Michael around with their experience to help with anything that I need during a meeting.!

I hope to be back to my best of 2009 where I was putting points into my average for fun! It’s been a rough few years for me but I have been seeing a life coach to overcome all the things that have happened in my life and really focus on my racing, she has been fantastic and I owe her a lot. Also I have had fantastic support from my local gymnasium, Primitive Gym, and they are making sure I’m the best I can be physically! So I am grateful for this opportunity that the Mildenhall management have given me and I am ready to give 110% every race for the fans. Bring on 2014!’

Kingston was also looking forward to joining the Fen Tigers -

‘I enjoyed my loan period with Kent, but my work situation meant it was not an option to stay this year. I was looking for a fairly local track and when the opportunity came to join Mildenhall I jumped at it!

I’m really looking forward to getting back racing and being at Mildenhall because I know Chris, Kevin and Michael will help and advise me and work with me so I can better myself as a rider. Plus I love the track! it’s a short technical circuit which is what I prefer. I’m looking forward to bonding with the rest of the team and getting some practise with them in the New Year, I am sure we will have a great season and I honestly can’t wait to get racing’
