COLCHESTER and Rochdale played out a dull goalless draw at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this afternoon.
The U’s had the better of the first half and in home-debuting Freddie Sears had the liveliest player on show.
But defences ruled as the game wore on in this game and neither side possessed a player with enough quality to unlock the other’s defence.
For improving Rochdale it was a vital point to aid their relegation fears. But for U’s, although their endeavour cannot be faulted, this was a very average performance and a few boos rang out at the final whistle from home fans.
Reaction from John Ward and Kem Izzet, in Monday’s EADT
