At the end of another year, here is a collection of a few choice quotes from Colchester United players and managers, during the course of 2014.
Manager Joe Dunne after Sanchez Watt’s red card at Swindon: “I’m not going to defend Sanchez. It was a red card offence, and the referee was absolutely right.”
Keeper Sam Walker after the 2-1 home defeat by Tranmere on April 5: “I just can’t really believe how we lost this game.”
Striker Jabo Ibehre, after the 4-1 home win over Brentford on April 26, which kept the U’s up: “I’m pleased for the manager (Dunne), who has put so much into the team.”
Karl Duguid, on his last ever U’s appearance, a 1-0 win at Walsall on May 5, which was his only game of the season: “I’ve just told the gaffer that we’ve not lost a game this season, when I’ve played!”
Brian Wilson, on his summer departure: “I had some good times at Colchester, and it was just a shame that I couldn’t get anything sorted out with my contract to stay.”
Clinton Morrison, on his summer release: “I’m not going to finish my career on the two years I have had at Colchester. I want to go out on a high, not on a low.”
Tony Humes, on his appointment as the new U’s boss on September 1: “It’s a proud moment for me.”
